The application
UptimeLogger runs entirely on your own machine. It has no user account, no backend and no analytics. Everything it records — connection events, settings, the log file — is stored in a local database on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.
The application makes two kinds of outbound requests:
- Connection probes. TCP connections to the servers configured in the settings (by default public DNS resolvers), used solely to determine whether your internet connection is up. They carry no data about you or about the application.
- Version check. If left switched on, the application requests a small static file from this website to find out whether a newer version exists. The request contains no identifier, no usage data and no information about your installation; as with any web request, the hosting provider sees your IP address (see below). The check can be switched off in the settings.
This website
This site is hosted on GitLab Pages, operated by GitLab Inc., 268 Bush Street no. 350, San Francisco, CA 94104, USA. The downloads are served from GitHub Releases, operated by GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you open a page, GitLab processes technical connection data; when you start a download, GitHub does — including your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested, and browser and operating system details — in server log files. This is necessary to deliver the site and serves our legitimate interest in operating and securing it (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Details are in GitLab's privacy statement and GitHub's privacy statement. Data may be processed in the United States.
This site sets no cookies, embeds no third-party fonts or scripts, and runs no analytics.
The “Buy me a coffee” button is a link. Its picture belongs to Buy Me a Coffee but is served from this site, so nothing is requested from them until you click it — and only then does your browser contact them, under their privacy policy.
